The Holmes Crew . May 1945. With the struggle finally over, P/O Holmes and crew photographed with lancaster NG273. Y for Yoke. Like the crew, this Lanc also survived and was scrapped off in June 1947. Another Lancaster this crew took on ops was ME 801. UL-N2 for Nan. She was a lucky lanc- carrying home her crews a total of 115 times. Click on images for a full-size view.

This picture of the crew and Ground crew was sent over from the USA by the crews Pilot Bill Holmes. It shows the crews Lancaster RA 514 R- Roger in its dispersal on the eastern side of Fiskerton.( B flight dispersals) this Lancaster completed 21 Operations , being struck of charge and scrapped on 19th May 1947.

ME801 N-Nan squared seen a few days after completing its 100th operation to Dortmund on the evening of 11/12 march 1945. The pilot on this 100th operation was Flight Lt Leyton Brown . My uncle Flight Lt leslie brown Flew in this lancaster on its 99th operation to the German city of Essen on 10/11 march 1945 with the crew of Flying Officer William Holmes. The Lancaster is seen at the eastern Head of Fiskertons main runway proudly displaying its 100 Bomb tallies and the DFC badge below the pilots port window.
